Things get crazy when Bronco blows a tyre at 100kmph

When I think of Ford Broncos on freeways I immediately think of OJ Simpson in his white Bronco being chased around the LA freeways all those years ago.

Watch as this Bronco driver does a pretty good job of keeping it together when he blows a tyre at 100kmph and flips his camper trailer.

It goes to show that no matter how smooth things are running, expect the unexpected . . . and make sure you have decent tyres on your vehicle and trailer.

  1. Hi Steve,
Wow. Glad this never happen to me. We went to Cape York in 2012. Travelled with 5 others. One day we were Tailgate Charlie (last car) when we heard a noise, well a different noise other than all the rattles expected with the corrugations. We radioed through to make a stop and check it out. I couldn't see anything obvious. Approx' 2kms down the road though at 80km/h, bang, trailer lock up. The locating pin on the leaf springs sheared through and everything slipped back forcing the rear wheel into the guard. The mud flap bolts tore the new tyre tread almost right through the tire. After 2hrs of bashing the leaf springs and axle back in alignment, drilling the holes 1/2mm bigger, forcing a bolt back through to replace the pin and changing the wheel, all while we experienced the first and almost only rain of our whole trip, we were back on the road. Other than blowing 2 sets of shocks, bad batch we were told, and a fuel pump in outback Queensland, the trailer and Patrol went fantastic. Clocked around 9300kms in 7weeks. Hanging to do the Big Lap.
    Cheers,
    Stephen.
