Lavinia, Carlo, Charlie and Jordan are an adventure loving young Aussie family from Adelaide who love nothing more than getting outdoors and exploring our incredible country!
After years of tackling some iconic four wheel drive destinations such as The Kimberley in 2014 and Cape York in 2015, they've decided to go one step further, sell up everything, put all of their personal items in storage and head off on one big adventure!
As Lavinia says, "Sometimes a few weeks just isn't enough and after every holiday we yearned for more, and that's how this incredible journey began".
They are currently 3 months into their 18 month trip around and through Australia and travelling in their trusty Nissan (aka Peter) Patrol and camper trailer along with their tinny to get out and explore the water as well.
Instead of doing an exact lap of Australia though, they are really exploring the ins and outs of some amazing areas, many of which are only accessible by 4WD.
After 80 days of exploring South Australia and conquering 4x4 tracks such as The Border Track, the soft sands of the Robe to Beachport beach run, and the Googs Track to name a few, they’ve finally made it to WA and look forward to discovering the many diverse places Western Australia has to offer.
Carlo & Lavinia have made it their mission to stay off the bitumen as much as possible and to tackle as many 4x4 tracks as they can to show that it is possible to travel safely to these amazing four wheel drive locations with children, and that there is usually an easier option when it comes to these tracks.
They believe in touring, exploring and protecting Australia so that it will be possible for future generations to do the same.
The family has setup a blog for their trip called "Our Family 4x4 Adventures" to inspire others to get out there and explore our wonderful country. Their website is an interesting mix of their personal experiences, the history of the places they find along the way and what's available at these locations.
Of course there are a healthy dose of travel tips too.
By showcasing the small towns they pass through they hope to promote tourism in the area, something that is vital for many of these incredible historically rich towns.
Charlie (4) and Jordan (2), are loving their new life on the road and the family is enjoying meeting many other young families along the way doing the same thing.
They are also loving all the adoptive grandparents the boys are picking up along the way too!
