So here we are about to set off on our little adventure, but I just know you are all wondering how we came to this point.
Four months ago Phil and I were out camping and loving life, however the bubble burst as I had to go to work and then the following conversation happened (well, as I remember it).
Phillip: Why don’t you call in sick so we can stay out another night?
Deb: Why don’t you quit your job and then we can go camping forever?
Phillip: Hmmm... that’s such a good idea. Let’s do that. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful, beautiful and intelligent wife who loves me so much.
So that was how this little trip came about. In case you didn’t figure it out for yourself from the title, Phil & I (Deb) are both 30, have no kids and no reason not to go off travelling (other than to save for the future and to set ourselves up financially – but I’m fairly sure that is over rated...).
Here we are, 4 months nearly to the day, later and Phillip has leave without pay and I have resigned and we are about to set off for 7 months of travelling around the dial.
We were already mostly set up for camping with a TVan Camper and a 2006 Nissan Navara D40 with:
* ARB Bull Bar
* Warn Electric Winch
* Dual Battery
* Tray Canopy
* Black Widow Draws and dual fridge slides
* IPF spotlights
* Bilstein Shocks
* 60L Trailblazer fridge
In preparation for this trip:
Phillip did/arranged the following:
* Long range fuel tank
* Window tinting
* Installed a radio/CD player into TVan
* Built a storage box
* Had installed Barrett HF & Uniden UHF radio
I did the following:
* Bought a digital SLR camera
* Got excited
Hmmm – that seems even to me.
Well our plan is very unplanned. We are going to generally go north, then west, then south, then east and then back north again. We are setting off from Ipswich on Wednesday 3rd June 2009 and are finishing somewhere else, probably in January 2010.
