We are the Pitts Family, Brian and Deb (36), Kilarney (4), and Brooke (3) and this is our story!

We are closing up our concreting business, selling the house, putting household goods in storage, and chasing a dream. Our lives will be changed forever, our family will grow closer, our adventures will be many, our dreams will come true. "With our children being so young, I figure now is as good a time as ever, so let's just do it!", this simple comment from Brian was the sum of our discussion about travelling Australia, I (Deb) didn't need to be asked twice, I had been waiting to hear those words for seven years. So here we are, packing, sorting, loading ipods and laptops, packing jerry cans and kitchens, first aid kits and toolboxes. We are so excited, we can barely breath! The adventure has begun and our trip started late Thursday afternoon, 22nd October 2009.

Our "house" is a Nova Family caravan with double bunks, queen bed, seperate toilet and shower and is pulled by our much loved Toyota Landcruiser 80 Series Wagon. We intend to split our time between free camping, and the luxury of caravan parks. As a result, we are powered by a Honda 2 generator and deep cell battery.

All of our friends will tell you that we camp and caravan a LOT. Our beautiful daughters were only each 5 weeks old when we first introduced them to the outdoors, Pitts style. Whether it's tenting or caravanning, we get away at least once every month. Even so, people are surprised at our choice to travel full time for 12-18 months. What's our reason for doing it... simply put, we love it and it's our thing! We plan on completing the full lap of Australia with no real direction or timeline except perhaps the weather. After all, we are tropical North Queenslanders from Townsville, and we wither in the cold.

We will be updating our blog and loading photos each week, please feel free to subscribe to our website to receive updates about our expedition, when we upload our blog, you will receive an email with our latest Blog entry every time we post one.
