Week 9 Great Ocean Road VIC, Geelong VIC 18/12/09-23/12/09

We make the long commute from Adelaide SA all the way to Peterborough at the start of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria at the start of this week. It is a long day, but that sea air and hearing the waves crashing makes the trip worth it. Peterborough is the small seaside town where Brian spent most of his childhood holidays, he brought us here 3 years ago and I am pleased to say the town hasn't

Week 8 Adelaide SA 11/12/09-17/12/09

We are always meeting new people as we travel but occasionally you meet people who are more memorable than most. Our neighbours turn out to be Marcus, Ann-maree (who Brian can't help but keep calling her Maryanne), and their teenage children, Josh, Kaitlin, Caroline and Abby who hail from Aararat in Victoria. They ask if we girls would like to accompany them to the Adelaide Zoo whilst Brian is at

Week 7 Port Augusta SA, Adelaide SA 04/12/09-10/12/09

Port Augusta is the most beautiful mid-size town with an ocean front and genuine nice people. We would love to live in a town like this, but unfortunately the winter hits freezing, and freezing is not for us. Christmas had transformed this beautiful town into a wonderland that the girls find entrancing. Brooke and Kilarney have their Xmas photos taken here, and this is the first Santa that Brooke

Week 6 Uluru NT, Cooberpedy SA, Port Augusta SA 27/11/09-03/12/09

We are finally here at Uluru, we are up early to participate in the "Must Do" Walk around the base of Uluru called the Marla walk, approx 2 klm. Due to the extreme temps here, the guided tour with a park ranger is only done in the morning but truly allows you to understand the rock, culture, dreamtime and people, and makes you appreciate nature as a whole. The entry fee into the park is $25 per

Week 5 Alice Springs, Kings Creek Station, Kings Canyon 19/11/09-26/11/09

Daddy flies home from Townsville at the start of this week, and the girls excitement can hardly be contained. They made him a beautiful Welcome Home sign and the 6 minute drive to the airport felt like about 1/2 hour for them, they were liking jumping beans. We pack a picnic lunch the next day and "Go west young man" to the West Macdonnell Ranges which has plenty of hidden gems to explore but we

Week 4 Alice Springs NT 13/11/09-18/11/09

Brian catches a plane out to Townsville Thurs 12/11/09 so the girls get all they can of him, jumping all over him and asking questions like there is no tomorrow. After a very emotional goodbye, the girls and I head out to the Cafe viewing area to watch Dad's plane go. We wait, and wait, and then suddenly people are disembarking, feeling glad we waited. Brian says plane has a problem, but not

Week 3 Northern Territory 06/11/09-12/011/09

The girls don't get our excitement about entering Northern Territory, but they're happy to share our excitement nonetheless. A short drive to Cammooweal then off to the QLD/NT border. As we pulled up for the photo session in front of the border sign, we had to laugh, the song playing was Lee Kernaghan's "This old hat (was turned up in a big 'ole Territory grin)". Brian and I were both recalling

Week 2 Mount Isa, Queensland 30/10/09-05/11/09

Mount Isa will be home this week for us, and basically if a caravan park has a pool and a playground it will do us just fine. Melbourne Cup day finds us at the Buffs Club, this club is like an RSL and was our pick of town as it has a Kids club. We arrived just in time to see the race, but too late to place a bet, saved our money though. Our mate Frank (God we miss the greatest pizzas from Pizza

Our first week on the road.... 24/10/09 to 29/10/09

Well I know there were people that thought we would never get going, but we are officially travelling Australia...yay! We decided to be different to everybody else and head north to the Gulf. Our first blog entry is coming to you from Karumba and the fishing sucks. Our first night saw us at Hencamp Creek in the Atherton Tablelands and then onto Archers Creek just outside Ravenshoe for the weekend
