Advertising
Expedition Australia aims to make as many of the services as
possible provided by the site free. One of the ways of achieving
this is to generate revenue through placement of advertising on the
site. This advertising may take the form or Google AdSense ads and
other types of advertising that are deemed to be worthwhile and
appropriate. Where possible advertising may be targeted to the
content on an individual page.
5.
Expedition Sites - Fees & Use of Third Party
Services
Expedition Sites have a once off setup fee of AUD$97 including GST.
This fee covers the labour involved with the actual setup of the
site only. Expedition Sites make use of some free services from
other providers like Google, Blogger and Flickr in order to be able
to provide the Expedition Site package. Expedition Australia is not
charging any fees for use of these services and is in fact
accessing them on your behalf as part of its service offering. You
will have access to all login information for these services as
part of the information provided to you at the time of creating
your Expedition Site and you are free to access and modify these
services as you see fit.
The fee for establishing your Expedition Site covers the
following:
* Creation of a Home Page which you are able to edit using Google
Docs (www.google.com). Page can be edited and updated by you as
often as you like (subject to ongoing access being provided by
Google.com.au).
* Creation of a Blog page which you are able to edit using
Blogger.com. You can submit as many Blog entries as you like
subject to any restrictions imposed by www.blogger.com (none at
time of writing).
* Creation of a Photo album which you are able to edit using
www.flickr.com. Current restrictions for a free Flickr account are
100mb of uploads per month. Expedition Australia imposes a
restriction of the latest 150 photos being shown in thumbnail form
on your photo album page. Excess photos will remain stored on
www.flickr.com but just not show up on your Expedition Site Photo
Album page.
* Creation of an email subscriber list which will be managed by
Expedition Australia. No restrictions as to the number of
subscribers. Based on our privacy policy, the subscriber list will
not be made available to Expedition Site owners at any time.
Any services requested beyond those detailed above may incur
additional fees which can be quoted in advance on request.
In the event that the setup of your Expedition Site is offered for
free or at a discount from the usual fee then it is on the basis of
the above package being what is being offered. Additional fees will
still be applicable to any additional services even if the original
setup is provided for free.
6.
Expedition Sites - Time Limits
Expedition Australia undertakes to host your Expedition Site at no
cost for at least the period until the end of your expedition or 3
years from the date of application, whichever comes first. However,
there is a benefit for Expedition Australia visitors to be able to
refer to your site after your expedition is completed and for that
reason Expedition Australia intends, but does not guarantee, to
leave your site available indefinitely.
7.
Profanity
Expedition Australia is a community focused site and content must
always be appropriate for a wide audience including children.
Differences of opinion and debate are welcome and indeed encouraged
for the benefit of the readers. However, profanity, racial slurs,
pornography, trade secrets, unlawful, defamatory, obscene,
scandalous, inflammatory, indecent or any other material deemed
inappropriate will be removed or censored. Expedition Australia
reserves the right to limit access to any individual or remove any
Expedition Site that we feel is in breach of this policy.
8.
Commercial Use
Any person or organisation intending to make use of the site for
their own commercial gain must make their intentions clear and have
written permission from Expedition Australia prior to undertaking
any such action. Fees may be applicable.

computers, technology and third parties beyond the control of
Expedition Australia. Accordingly while every effort is made to
maintain a consistent service, Expedition Australia cannot be
liable for any downtime or break in service or any consequences to
any persons or organisations that may result from such an event.
Use of this site is on the express understanding that no guarantees
are provided as to its performance or uptime.
10.
