What are cookies and how we use them?

Cookies are small pieces of code that are saved in your browser when you visit different pages on websites like this one.

Our site adds cookies to your browser to track the pages you visit while you are here.

This information enables us to tailor your website experience during this and future visits, show you relevant ads on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms and track the overall performance of our site using Google Analytics.

What data do we collect?

Digital Downloads, Film Streaming & Marketing

To enable you to access the resources in our Members Hub including digital downloads in our Digital Toolbox and our Films we collect and store your name and email address. Your email address is the key piece of information that distinguishes you from other customers and enables you to login to the Members Hub.

Orders for physical products

When you place an order for physical products like DVD's, we collect enough information to enable us to contact you and to deliver your order. This includes your name, delivery address, email address. You have the option to provide your phone number and if you do we will only call you if we need to discuss your order.

How do we manage and share your data?

We use several external services providers to store and manage our clients data:

Email Marketing & Members Hub

We use Active Campaign for email marketing and email automation. Active Campaign enables us to send you tailored email messages, newsletters and campaigns based on your history with us instead of 'one size fits all'. For example, if we know that you've already bought The Big Lap DVD Series, we won't promote it to you any more if possible.

Active Campaign also enables us to give you access to our Members Hub and the digital products that you have access to.

Every newsletter or marketing email has an 'Unsubscribe' link at the end of it - Clicking Unsubscribe will take you off our main email list and you won't receive any more newsletters or marketing related emails. You'll also lose access to our Members Hub unless you have paid to access any of the resources in there.

We include 'Opt Out of this campaign' style links in some of our email marketing campaigns which enable you to stop any further emails related to that particular campaign without completely unsubscribing from all emails and losing access to our Members Hub.

In general we try and limit our email campaigns to 3 to 5 emails in total spaced over 4 to 7 days.

eCommerce

We use Woocommerce which is our eCommerce platform that is integrated into our website and hosted by WP Engine.

Your contact, delivery and order data will be stored in Woocommerce if you place or have placed an order through our online Shop.

Facebook & Instagram

We use Facebook and Instagram to show targeted ads to our website visitors, subscribers and customers. This involves using the 'Facebook Pixel' which is a cookie that tracks the pages you visit on our website to tailor the ads you see from us on Facebook and Instagram. We also upload lists of subscribers and customers (name and email address) into Facebook so that Facebook can cross match our contacts with Facebook accounts to enable more accurate ad targeting. These lists are encrypted before they uploaded.

Apart from the storage methods detailed above, we don't share your data with any other third parties.

What happens when I join your email list?

There are a number of ways of joining our email list, including:

  • When you request a free downloadable resource like our Big Lap Budget Spreadsheet or Ultimate Road Trip Packing List
  • When you subscribe to our Newsletter
  • When you purchase anything from our online shop
  • When you sign up to access our Members Hub

Once you have joined our email list we will email you from time to time about new content on our site, special offers and new products and projects.

You may receive up to 3 or 4 emails in a week but usually it is less.

We do not sell or rent our email list to anyone. You may from time to time receive offers on behalf of our sponsors but they will be emailed to you directly from Expedition Australia, not from the sponsor.

You can click the UNSUBSCRIBE link at the bottom of any email from us which will take you off our email list and stop further emails.

This will also remove access to our Members Hub unless you have purchased any of the resources that are accessed there.

How long do we store your data?

We store your information indefinitely unless you ask us to delete it.

Display ads and affiliate Links

We display ads across the site from various ad networks like Google Adsense and also include affiliate links in some of our outbound links and advertising banners. Clicking on an affiliate link to a partner website may result in us earning a small commission if you choose to buy a product from that company. This makes no difference to the cost of the product to you and helps us to keep the site running.
